The biosphere and ecosystems are not an issue, they are the totality of life to which we belong, we are one more among plants, birds, rivers. Taking care of them is taking care of ourselves, is to make community with the cosmos. That is why our relationship with the environment starts from our name: 32 Volcanes, and intertwines with each project that we develop, reflecting from an ethical-ecological perspective health, education, nutrition, etc.
Diagnosis - Research for data generation
This is the first phase in any community where initiate environmental and agroecological programs, as it is the basis to visualize community context and needs. Although we work in the early stages of them, this helps us, as an institution and community, to generate sustainable programs requested by the population and local leaders. Among some of the activities carried out are: geolocation, diagnosis of the community (demographic data, focus groups, among others).
- Reforestation: with more than 20 years of experience using native varieties and endemic.
- Environmental education and responsible consumption.
- Solid waste management: Recycling-reuse-reduction- reject and regenerate ways of handling solids.
- Generation of bioferments and biofertilizers from agroecological methods.
- Safe wood-saving stoves.
- Water resources management: catchment and harvest systems, industrial water purifiers, ecological filtration models.
- Advisory and consulting service to government entities, individuals, community and non-governmental.
Agroecology and food sovereignty
Together with our partners and families beneficiaries of the communities, we work part of food sovereignty with agroecology, ancestral knowledge, nutrition and native and creole seeds.
From native and creole seeds to orchards and biocomposites
We are working right now in their production process, defending the smaller scales of agricultural production. This is done by creating:
- Urban gardens
- Orchards on municipal and communal lands
- New production models in conjunction with Alticultura such as orchards underground
- Bioferments and bio fertilizers from organic matter
The above in order to achieve local production of quality and fresh food, biodiversity with beneficial associations for the regeneration of soils, and also the production of seeds for family consumption and for sale in the local market.
Agroecological models have as their first objective to subscribe with sufficient quality food to beneficiary families. Families that receive orchards, seeds and training are captured by 32 volcanes in situations of conflict, extreme poverty, and risk of migration, with children under 5 years of age in malnutrition, siblings who have deserted from the school, or migrant relatives who have not returned, family violence and violence gender, among others. Families’ commitment to give continuity to these programs is regarded to the way they consider it will benefit them and thus achieve economic and family food autonomy.
Food generated both in family, community and district gardens and urban ones transform part of the production into relevant food culturally, such as high nutritional quality atoles for children under 5 years, pregnant and adolescent mothers, seniors and chronic patients in their first acute phases, so on until reaching the sustainability and regeneration of the program
At 32 Volcanes, memory is part of our motto. Our main function –broadly speaking – is to create a complete community based on solidarity, but above all from memory, an indispensable tool to rethink the world on a regenerative and healthy way for a better future. Therefore, the exchanges in addition to an effective, beautiful and simple system, they are also an act of rebellion, a breakdown of everyday life, and the birth of trust circles.
In order to promote collaboration and solidarity, local market, art, and a new conscious mobility as a form of economy barters are made in bicycle, both as preliminary models of trust between citizens for their next SEEDS app.
Bartered items or rather a trust contract comes of innumerable contributions from artists, as well as articles. seeds, pylons, workshops, books, among others, in order to collect food for the food bank regenerative thus supporting and valuing solidarity.
Our products are already available in order to be self-sustaining. Among the products we offer are seeds, organic food, cookbooks, consultancies and support for the generation of agroecological gardens. In addition, we are in the first stage of an ECOVILLA model, in which our circular economy will also finance itself through producing agro-ecological food, honey for regenerative tourism. Our market digital is now available at SEEDS.
Among the seeds we offer for foods and cookbooks, there are: amaranth, chia, corn, beet, cabbage, lettuce, chiltepe, chipilín, tomato, herbamora, damn, broad bean, carrot, cucumber, pea, lentil, soy (Creole), among others.
